Chicken Nuggets and Examinations

I was on my way home from Ultimate, and my brother needed to do some shopping. This was the perfect moment to buy some groceries to satisfy my hungry impulse. Tonight would be the night I made, Chicken Nuggets.
"I should be studying..."
Firstly, I love food and cooking, but that doesn't mean I'm very good at it. I'm impulsive and I often put things together and hope for the best. That's the best kind of cooking style when you're doing something totally new. I've always had a soft spot for chicken nuggets. I have fond memories of eating them while doing homework, usually twenty pieces at a time. So it's about time that I learnt how to make them.

Ingredients

All you need is chicken breast, breadcrumbs, and ONE egg. Trust me with the egg. You don't want to have to make fried egg for breakfast just because you stuff up with estimation. I don't like eggs.

Take your chicken breast and cut them into little nugget sized pieces. Make sure that you get rid of the dangly bits because they don't turn out well with the crumbs. Remember to work carefully with raw chicken, you don't want to get salmonella. Isn't it funny how a bird can give you a disease that sounds like a fish?

To make your crumb mixture... Just buy breadcrumbs, and get the seasoned ones if you can. Otherwise, you can do what I did and mix some herbs, spices, salt, and pepper in with your breadcrumbs. I used mixed herbs and basil. The only problem with my crumbs was that I put too much pepper, and held the salt. In reality it should be the other way round. In the future I'd also like to incorporate some spicier crumbs with some chilli powder. Even taco flavouring wouldn't be too bad. Right?

Method

Put your chicken into the egg. You don't want a lot of egg on the nugget because you'll get your crumbs all soggy, so just a light layer then straight into the breadcrumbs. Flip the nugget a couple of times to make sure it's totally coated in spicy goodness. Keep the factory line going and you'll end up with a good tray full of chicken delights.

Put them into a preheated oven at 180-280 degrees centigrade. I'm sorry American viewers, I do not know that in Fahrenheit. However, it's probably something like 350 degrees.  They'll be in there for 20 minutes maximum. The best way to know if they're done is to cut open one and find out. Once again, you don't wanna mess with raw chicken.

I've got exams coming up, so I probably won't be posting anything substantial in the coming weeks. Hard times are coming, but at least I'll be able to have my comfort foods to get me through it.
"What gets you through the night is what will get you through the night."
What about you? Do you have some favourite foods to get your through stressful times? Have you had any impulsive "Master Chef" moments? Can you eat 100 Chicken McNuggets in 100 minutes? Let me know in the comments!

    1. It all depends on what you use. This meal ended up costing me around $13-ish, but that could've been a good snack for 3 people.
