First Impressions - X-Men Days of Future Past

You can imagine how much I geeked out when I saw this image for the first time. The X-men are some of my favourite superheroes, but I haven't always been super excited for their movies. However, the increasing standard of the films leading up to Days of Future Past (i.e. First Class) and the killer post credit scene in The Wolverine reinvigorated my excitement for this movie. For me, this was the most anticipated movie of the year... and it was awesome. Here are my first impression for X-Men Days of Future Past

Update + Original Poem: She Says

I was meant to write my first Top 5 list today, but then I realised I didn't have enough points to actually make it to five. However, the next few weeks have some awesome movies coming out, and I'm hoping to watch them and post some reviews.

This whole blogging-on-a-schedule is quite different to what I've been used to, and I must say I enjoy it. Simply put, it keeps my laziness in check. I hope to keep bringing you guys regular content, as well as extra little snippets here and there. If you'd like me to try something new, or find that there is a way I can improve, don't hesitate to comment about it.

I've been really swamped this past week, so today I'll give you a poem that I wrote a while back. Contrary to popular belief, I'm an Asian that actually likes English. Out of all of the subjects taught in schools, it is the most underrated of the lot. Then again, there are a lot of problems with schooling in general, but that's something for another post. For now, I hope you enjoy my poetry.

she says

While waiting, we wait
“Hello” she states
“Hi”
As I look into her eyes
time slips by
My turn comes
She waves goodbye
I smile in reply
I play my piece
bow to the crowd
I hasten back
She’s gone
Then I hear her song
I step to the stage
She meets my gaze
Her shape and shadow…
Perfect
Her rise, her fall…
Beautiful
The dance ends
She sashays to me
“Amazing” I say
She smiles again
Then…
We embrace
For a second
I feel her hands
her chest
her face
She walks away
“Good bye”
“It was nice to meet you”

The Rise and Fall of 2048. Was it Great?

Have you beaten this game yet? Have you even heard of it? If this is your first time, welcome to the wonderful world of 2048. This game, created by Gabriele Cirulli, has very recently made its mark on the online world, even so much as spotting its own smartphone app. The game is simple: slide the tiles to combine similar ones, and reach 2048. However, the deceitful simplicity leads to avid frustration once you achieve higher and higher valued tiles. Still, nothing beats the feeling you get when you first reach the eleventh power of two.

Now that the craze of 2048 has died down, I want to take this time to reflect on the game and see what it brings to the table. Was it just a passing fad? Does it have unlocked potential? HOW DO YOU EVEN WIN? Let's dive into the world of this seemingly simple, yet extremely frustrating, game to find out!
